The purpose of the Parish Council is to aid and enhance the ministry of the Pastor by helping him discern what is best for the spiritual and pastoral development of the life of the parish. They are a consulting body who offers practical wisdom and insight on topics that pertain to the pastoral life. Our Council also serves in many ways.
Our Parish Council is entering into the discernment process for new members. The purpose of a Parish Council is to help a pastor investigate and consider all matters that relate to pastoral life and to formulate practical decisions for the good of a parish. The Council advises and consults and offers a consensus about pastoral issues.
Years of practice have also clarified two important points: That a Pastor has been delegated by the Bishop to administer the pastoral work of the parish and that the Pastor needs the consultation of others, especially a Council of Advisers to provide wisdom, advice and practical direction to develop the spirituality and the living of Catholic life in every parish.
The Discernment Process for the Parish Council begins with a self-discerning process followed by an information meeting and final discernment.
Registered parishioners are invited to submit their name or that of another registered parishioner for consideration. Please include: First & Last Name, contact information for the nominee and a brief description of the benefits.
Submissions are due April 19, 2024 and can be sent to info@stbonaventure.net.
Candidate submissions will be received by the Pastor and Parish Council. Maintaining a diverse membership of the Parish Council is an important and will be a primary consideration in the review of candidates invited to an information meeting. Considerations include:
